Making of a Chair for Dalai Lama

His Holiness the Dalai Lama, is probably one of the few religious leaders today that are working ceaselessly for world peace, and the improvement of the society. I have been to his lecture once in person as a student, and have been impressed by his simplicity, awareness, humour and ease at which he relates to people. Dalai Lama, makes you feel comfortable in his presence, there is a beautiful humility, at the same time you become aware of  his deep understanding about life. I am constantly inspired by him, and his teachings. I have had the good fortune of having him sign a photograph for me, which i cherish and take with me wherever i go… this is far from what he teaches, but just having this momento gives me a kind of comfort, a reminder that there are a lot of people who follow him, and thus there are a lot of people who in their little ways are working towards a more peaceful, sharing, enlightened society.

This Video shows Malcolm Cheyne, who teaches design and craft working at DJCAD (Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design). He designs, shapes and builds a chair for His Holiness The Dalai Lama. The chair was crafted for the Dalai Lama’s first visit to Dundee on Friday, June 22nd 2012, where he delivered talks from the Caird Hall.
